Poems (Cinkylinky)

I started to create, for children, a little watercolour and poetic world of love and comfort. Creating poems which can tell them, they are protected, loved and irreplaceable. And through the reading of their parents they can hear all those words, sometimes hard to say or express.

Poems

OF MY BOOK CINKYLINKY

I was 21 years old, travelling through Spain and looking after children. Living with families and watching their relationships made me think about the bond between mothers and their children. Which was not always as strong as it should be.

Learning from Naomi Aldort and her beautiful book Raising our Children, Raising Ourselves I had realised, parents don’t give their children what they need the most – love, understanding and respect.

So because of that I started to think, how could I help mothers to show their feelings, love and say to children what they need to hear?

I came up with an idea of this book. Writing poems which will be a confession and comfort for those who are listening.

And that’s how my little collection of poems, started to shape. It took me probably a year to put all 21 poems altogether and illustrate the whole book by myself.

Cinkylinky book of poems and illustrations by Jinn Twai

From me as an author

These poems are about mothers and their devoted hearts, about children and their perfect creation, and also about love, which people don’t see and yet searching so much for.

Through lines of these poems I would like to touch all wounded and abandoned hearts, which are crying and worrying. Because I believe that words can also sooth and heal as well.

INTRODUCTION of the book – Cinkylinky

My Dear Children,

don’t be afraid to live and chase your dreams. Don’t let grown ups to shape your world as the society enforce. Don’t let others to suppress your own feelings or personality. Laugh! Be Happy! And be creative as only you – children – know and can the best!

I believe that exactly you and everyone on this planet have to be here, even though you feel like one of the last ones. That only you have here a path which anybody else can take and is only up to you. Because of you, in all your beauty, with all your faults – are irreplaceable creating of the God.

So get up, smile at your life, which was given to you and thank for every single trouble you went through. Because you never become stronger without a fight. Don’t be afraid and fight for yourself.

And believe that somewhere deep in your heart is someone waiting for you, loving you and willing to give up his own life just for you to live. Do not doubt. Open the door of your heart and let the rays of love and the light of life to come in.

Z PAVUČIN

Z pavučin úzkostí,
ze strachů a starostí,
na prádelní šňůry
pověs noční můry.

A toho, kdo se v stínu plíží,
překvap svojí odvahou,
že se na krok nepřiblíží,
stáhne se sám s rozvahou.

Ať si radši svůj hřbet chrání,
ve svém koutě zbabělém,
před tím, kdo tě mečem brání,
před tvým strážným andělem.

TO THE STARS

To the moon
and to the stars,
if you’re lonely,
there, so far.
Come and stop by my dream,
by the things to be seemed.

Tell your story,
I’ll tell mine,
’bout the bruise,
love, divine.

THE REAL EXPLANATION OF LOVE

About Love

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13 1-7, Bible

EVEN I CAN’T SEE YOU

Even I can’t see you,
I feel your present,
already know you,
but never resent.
Even I can’t hear you,
I hear your heart beats
To all what feels blue,
I want to sneeze.
Even I can’t touch you
I feel your skin,
from our past to something new,
like always has been.

IKDYŽ TĚ NEVIDÍM

Ikdyž tě nevidím,
cítím tvou přítomnost,
nikdy se nepídím
a znám tvou osobnost.
Ač nejsi v doslechu,
slyším tvé srdce bít.
Ke všem tvým nádechům,
toužím se přitulit.
Toužím tě kolébat
v malinkém oříšku,
sluncem tě zalévat,
šimrat tě na bříšku.

These two poems I was writing to all children in mothers’ tummies.

Children who haven’t been even born yet, but still connecting with their mums from their very first beginnings. About the miracle of creating something so unbelievably beautiful – a little human being.

And exactly that miracle – almost a sacred act – being able to carry a child and deliver to this world, became such a compulsory duty or not even talking about unwanted “fling” for many. Having a baby because everybody else says, does or because of an age – is selfish and thoughtless, I think.

And that’s why I started to create for children, a little watercolour and poetic world of love and comfort. Creating poems which can tell them, they are protected, loved and irreplaceable. And through the reading of their parents they can hear all those words, sometimes hard to say or express.

POEMS TRANSLATING

It’s always a bit tricky to translate the same poem because you will never translate it 100%. As each language has it’s own expressions and words – so for me it was more about keeping the same topic and creating an English version of my Czech poems, which I love so much. But as same as I love the new one in English.

So I hope, you will enjoy them and my creativity brings a joy into your heart.

What People Say About My Book – Cinkylinky

I had a chance to print and published about 70 books of Cinkylinky And was lucky to sell them all. Unfortunately I haven’t decide to print more for now, but I am playing with an idea to redesign it and translate so more people can read it and enjoy it.

Here are just few feedbacks from my beloved friends and families who got the book. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

Jinnie,
It’s wonderful…I have realized how deeply I suppressed creativity in my motherhood, somehow I was overcome with fatigue and worries..It makes my heart happier when I meet people who are open to the creativity and beauty of Creation..And through them we become more sensitive ..It is amazing what could have arisen through You and the Lord ..

Dear Jinn,
It is really really beautiful and I can see and feel the God’s touch in every single word. Thank you and the God that you said yes and let yourself be guided and blessed. For all of us it’s a big inspiration and pleasure.

Dear Jinn,
I got your book all right. Beautifully written verses, beautifully painted pictures, beautifully wrapped. Really as a gift. It’s an amazing work. It helped me to strengthen the beautiful gift of motherly love, tenderness, caress, it moves me to greater gratitude for the gift of motherhood.
Thanks for being able to feel the beauty of everything we all get as children from the heaven. Thanks to all. Thanks to your comforting, encouraging, breathing and looking into the sky, through you…
Our Tony (3.5 years old) loves the Golden Rings and the Yellow Butterfly
the most.
